The Edgar County Board is accepting sealed bids for the Edgar County Jail, 228 N. Central Ave., Paris, IL.

The building will be sold as is. Possession will occur after the new Edgar County Public Safety Facility is fully operational, and the old Jail is no longer in use. A closing date will then be set. The County Board requests a reasonable amount of time to remove certain contents from the building. The new owner will be responsible for the real estate taxes and all utilities beginning on the closing date. Subject to Resolution 2026-75, passed by the Edgar County Board on September 9, 2026, the successful bidder shall arrange for the demolition of this property at the expense of the new owner; and subject to any other conditions as provided.

The last day to submit a sealed bid is October 13, 2026 by 2:00 p.m. in the Edgar County Clerk’s Office, Attn: August Griffin, 115 W. Court St. Rm J, Paris, IL. Bids will be opened at the County Board’s regular scheduled Study Session on October 13, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.
